Noushad in Malayalam drama AYESHA

SREERANJINI BALA

Perinthalmanna: When the final score board of the Calicut University C-zone arts festival, 2011, was shown at Angadipuram SNDP YSS College, the students of SAFI Institute of Advanced Study stood seventh! It was in a list of 125 colleges in the district, competing with colleges who have thousands of students and decades of experience. PSMO College won the overall championship at C-zone. The arts festival was a sweet experience for most of the participants from SIAS, no matter the results of each item. About 111 students participated in various off-stage and stage programmes. The performance in off-stage programmes was very encouraging, as the college stood second or third for a long spell of time, when the results were being announced, one by one.

The English drama Noor bagged second prize and grabbed full attention of the audience. It tells the story of an Iraqi girl who is kidnapped and dishonoured by the invading soldiers. The touching play was staged by Farha and team. Amritha (II Semester BSC Microbiology) secured first position in story writing English, Ramziya (VI Semester BSC Microbiology) and Sahla (II Semester BSC Microbiology) shared the second prize in debate. Naseer (I Semester Islamic studies) won the
first prize for elocution in Urdu. Mufida (I Semester Microbiology) secured third prize for Tamil elocution. Jasmin (IV Semester BBA) stood second in oil painting. Rejina (VI Semester BSC Microbiology) got third prize for versification in Tamil and Sreshma (I Semester Biotechnology) in Hindi. Divyasree got second prize for versification and essay writing in Sanskrit.

The students of SIAS showed their amazing talent and spirit to ignite a spark of liveliness to the campus. SIAS achieved this enormous accomplishment with the support and dedication of all teachers and students. The most important hurdle for many group items was the very few time got for rehearsals. The blog team congratulates all participants and the winners. Alos, our salutes to Shamnas, the
fine arts secretary and Sabu sir, the fine arts advisor, whose effort was vital in the achievements.
