The newly designed logo of the Communication Club was launched by the Vice Chancellor. The seminar critically dissected the principles and practices of the media profession. Well-known writer and social commentator Dr. MN Karassery spoke on the topic ‘aesthetics and media language’. He reminded the audience that Kerala is a media oriented society, and the major problem with this reality was that every media has an economic side. He talked on the importance of the new media like social networking sites in today’s world. “It has no politics, no flag, no leader, but it also has a negative side in the sense that it kills languages including English’, opined he.
Dr. K Yaseen Ashraf, prominent writer, columnist, and media analyst spoke on ‘the form and content of news in media’. Ajay P Mangat, cultural activist and a chief sub-editor with Malayala Manorama, talked on the topic ‘media and culture’. The seminar followed an open forum. It was a great experience for the delegates. All media students of SAFI Institute of Advanced Study also participated in the seminar, along with students from the University and other colleges.
